The original Hi-Flyer. Meant for delivering larger baits far into the surf. The Hi-Flyer's 48" overall length and 20" wire section make for a smooth, powerful cast. Plenty of wire to handle the mouth of a larger shark and longer mono section for abrasion protection.
The Hi-Flyer is available in a second model. Also 48" long this rig uses a smaller 9/0 hook and shorter wire length at 16" (#18 wire). A sinker slide is used to attach weights rather than a coastlock snap, allowing a fish to run for 30 inches before feeling the sinker. That distance may seem insignificant, but in that short time a shark or large fish could "re-grip" a larger bait. A lot of success has been had with both versions of the Hi-Flyer. Each rig has advantages in different situations. Both have proven themselves many times over. Our largest red drum to date was caught on a Hi-Flyer slide rig.
The Hi-Flyer 48" and 38" are versatile rigs. Built to handle a variety of surf fishing situations and shark sizes. The rigs are labeled "light" casting shark rigs. But the sharks they can handle are not. These are serious rigs meant for serious fish.
